Happy Halloween: Monster High DS Game Review

First I would like to say Happy Halloween Goblins and Ghouls! Since its Halloween I thought I would do a Halloween themed review. I got the game 10/27/11 at ToysRUS at night and finished it at 4 am. I was very hooked to the game. This game works for both DS and DSi game systems. You get to choose of what monster you want to be. You can be a Zombie, Mummy, Vampire (That is the one I picked), Werewolf, Gorgon, and Mash Up. Mash up is a combination of all the monsters in one character. If you have a DSi you can take a picture of yourself and Ghouli-fy yourself. And the game is self saving.

First I will tell you what I liked about the game then I will tell you what I didn’t like.

Likes: One of the things I like about this game is that it keeps you entertained and keeps you busy. The game gives you a lot to do. You have to help your new Monster High friends get what they need done so they can go to the Scream Dance. Besides doing that you have to go to class and pass to be able to go to the dance. Most of the characters you see in the game are from the Monster High webisodes the official website and YouTube shows. All the characters voices are also from the show. So there is no surprise of character voices changes that sometimes does happen with games that are based off a show, examples, Naruto and Bleach.

Dislikes: The graphics are awful. It looks somewhat blurred and it’s hard to make out the facial expressions when you are picking out a face for the characters. In the commercials the graphics looks awesome (Guessing that is the Wii version that was shown). So I am not sure it’s just the DS version that looks this way or if it would have looked better on the DSi. Another thing is that there aren’t many outfits that you can pick for your character. I will show you in the pictures below this review. There are two outfits that you can wear thought the game besides the dress you will wear at the end of the game to the dance. And there weren’t many hair choices for my vampire character, which I think that stinks. And the phrases that the characters from the show used in the game are very limited and can get annoying. A thing that I found in the game to be disappointing is when you do the cooking class it’s nothing like cooking Mama where you chop food and adjust the oven temperature and stuff like that. All you do is drag the ingredients to the cauldron and slide your styles to where the arrows are pointing and stir. I think that was kind of a lazy thing to do.  In the commercial for the game they said you can join the Fearleading Squad. Well, in the game I have that never happened. So I don’t know if I missed and event somehow that would have let me do that or it’s in the Wii version. Last but not last, the days aren’t separated. While playing this game I thought everything I was doing was day one since the game starts off with you being the new Ghoul in school. After I did everything I need to do and go to the dance one of the characters stated that a whole year went by. I would have liked it if they would have days or something that you know how long you have been at the school to get a better indication of how much of the game you have to go before you are near the end.

Overall: I love the storyline. I love how the game keeps you entertained with all the missions and class you need to do. So there are no dull moments in the game. The game stays true to the show when it came to the characters and the layout of the school.

So I hope this review helps you to decide whether or not to buy the game. Or buy the Wii version of the game to see if it is similar or different from what I told you guys about the DS version. Or if you have the DSi you can see if the graphics are better looking.
My character in one of the two permanent outfits you can wear and change to in the game

My character in the other outfit you can wear and change to in the game

My character in the dress for the dance. I think the dresses are different with each monster. I am not sure yet.

Moshi Monsters Moshlings Series 1

On July 19 I walked to Toys R Us in the heat to just get out of the house for a while. And there I found one of the cutest things, Moshi Monsters Moshlings Series 1! For the people who don’t know what either of them is I will tell you. Moshi Monsters is an online game where you take care of monsters. Moshlings are pets for your monster. You get them buy growing plants in the monster’s garden. With the right plant combination a Moshling will wonder into the garden and will be your monster’s pet.

I bought the three pack Moshlings that comes with two Moshlings that you can see and one that us a mystery. In the three pack you get two codes for the online game. One code is to get a free gift and the other is to get a free three day membership. Also there is a chance that you can get an Ultra rare Moshling. If you like blind box you can get these cuties in blind bag form.

On the pic on the left we have Iggy (Ultra rare). On the right we have McNulty and Lady Meowford.

Even though these little creatures are cute as can be there were a few flaws on Lady Meowford. There was a mark on the back of her head and poor paint job on her dress. I also had an issue with the code for the three day membership. For some reason it didn’t work.

So if you play this game and love it or like cute little creatures than buy these today at Toys R Us!

Vamplets

The world of Vamplets was created by the artist G-Ra. They started selling these cute baby vampires and conventions last year. There are six of them and their names are Count Vlad Von Gloom, Evilyn Nocturna, Lily Rose Shadowlyn, Midnight Mori, Cadaverson Nightshade, and Burton Creepson Jr. You can find more information about each Vamplet on their website (http://www.vamplets.com). And if you are brave enough, adopt one of your own. Also you can enter the Vamplet's code to print out their birth certificate.

I bought my first Vamplet, Lily Rose Shadowlyn, from their website last year in October. She is so cute! I loved her bat bows and the cute diaper (made of polyester) that has a black bow on it. She has a big soft squishy head and a little soft body. Her little bracelet like the other Vamplets says Bad on it.

Today I got another Vamplet! She was sent to me by a friend.  The Vamplet’s name is Midnight Mori. She is mostly the same as Lily Rose Shadowlyn.

The differences between them are that she has a smaller head then Lily Rose. The diaper designs are different. She has a cute pink bow in her hair with a skull on it. And instead of pink circles around her eyes, she has green. Her head feels more stuffed as well as her body than Lily Rose.

So if you like vampires and cute things then adopt a Vamplet. They are looking for a loving home. But be warned! Don't forget to feed them or you will regret it!

Omi Series 1

Munky King had already released Omi Series 1. It’s the first artist series of their new Omi blind-box art collectible series. The production pieces are or can be displayed on the included clear wall stand. With clear wall stand you can display the Omi by hanging it on your wall. It also comes with an extra little stand piece that you can attach it to the clear wall stand so you can have your Omi displayed on your desk or any other flat surface. You can also buy the acrylic board so you can display 9 Omis all at once on your wall. Series 1 features nine artists which consist of Buff Monster, Dave Pressler,Ferg, Frank Kozik, Greg Simkins Luke Chueh, Munky King, Nathan Jurevicius, and Yoskay Yamamoto. There are nine chase pieces which brings the total to 18 different Omis that you can get. Also I found out from watching Toy Break that two Omis can be plugged together to make one full/different figure. I ordered two of them from rotofugi.com. I hope that I get the ones that I wanted. *crosses fingers*

Omis diplayed on the clear wall stand.
A sample I found on Google of what the Omis would look like displayed on the acrylic wall.

Awesome stuff from Tate's comics Part 2!

Ok now on to the three blind boxes. The first two are a Gundam 00 blind box and a Gundam 00 and Code Geass mixed blind box. I got Setsuna in the Gundam 00 and Lelouch in the second one. What’s awesome about these guys is they talk, but only in Japanese.

The third and final blind box is a Sanrio re-ment with the twins which is said to resemble the astrological sign Gemini. The window opens up and there is a little mirror inside. There is not much to say about this but it’s pretty darn cute. ^_^ And that’s all I got from Tate’s comics.

Awesome stuff from Tate's comics!

I went to Tate's comics today and got some awesome stuff. Since my b-day is coming up soon I thought of spoiling myself a little. I got myself 3 blind boxes and the Marvel POP Wolverine figure. I also got the Ame Comi Heroine Cheetah mini figure from a friend that she bought for me at Tate’s.

The Wolverine figure is just a bobble head and has no articulation his arms or legs. I had to go through a few of them to find one with a decent paint job. I think he is awesome and adorable even though he doesn’t do much.

I wanted the Ame Comi Heroine Cheetah mini figure ever since I saw her on entertainmenterth.com. I wasn’t sure when she would be released because on entertainmenterth.com she was still a pre-order as I recall. So when I walked in to Tate’s today to my surprise she was there. A friend that I was there with offered to buy her for me as an early b-day gift. Cheetah to my surprise when I opened her up, I saw that she had a mouse in her paw behind her back. I never saw any pics of that online. It’s so cute. She comes with a little stand that has no design on it. It was a little hard to get her all the way on the stand. Her paint job is great with minor paint defects.
.
Sorry for the bad quality pics of her. I was using my iPod to take the pictures.

News: The 99

The 99 is a comic book series published by Teshkeel Comics. The comic features a team of superheroes based on Islamic culture and religion. According to the information I found on wiki the series is a creation of Dr. Naif Al-Mutawa, founder and C.E.O. of Teshkeel Media Group. The creative team for The 99 is composed of comic book industry veterans such as Fabian Nicieza, Stuart Moore, June Brigman, Dan Panosian, John McCrea, Ron Wagner, Sean Parsons and Monica Kubina – all of whom have worked at both Marvel and DC Comics. Although the series is based on Islamic concepts, it is promoted as appealing to universal virtues, and the religion of each character is not made explicit

It is said that this comic book series is going to be an animated TV show for the Hub Channel. It is to be released sometime this year but a specific dated has not been released yet by my knowledge. In season one there was supposed to be 13 episodes but that has changed now to 26. In December 2009 a preview was released on youtube and 99’s own website.

Information on the comic book/soon to be series from wiki:
The 99 are ordinary teenagers and adults from across the globe, who come into possession of one of the 99 magical Noor Stones (Ahjar Al Noor, Stones of Light) and find themselves empowered in a specific manner. All dilemmas faced by The 99 will be overcome through the combined powers of three or more members. Through this, The 99 series aims to promote values such as cooperation and unity throughout the Islamic world. Although the series is not religious, it aims to communicate Islamic virtues which are, as viewed by Dr. Al-Mutawa, universal in nature.
The concept of The 99 is based on the 99 attributes of Allah. Many of these names refer to characteristics that can be possessed by human individuals. For example – generosity, strength, faithfulness, wisdom are all virtues encouraged by a number of faiths.
In compliance with Islamic tradition, the Arabic version of the aliases of each of the 99 is written without the definite article "Al-", because use of this precise form is exclusive to Allah. This serves to remind that The 99 are only mortals, and sets them as human role models, with their qualities and weaknesses.
Surprise information I found on wiki: DC Comics have revealed that they are planning a crossover mini-series with the Justice League and The 99.
I have been “away” from the DC comics for a long time. For the last 6, 7 years I had been watching mostly anime. I had started going back to Marvel and DC stuff in 2009. I can’t believe about how much I missed! New characters and new interesting heart stopping story lines that just blew my mind.  So from the some of the knowledge I had from when I was a kid and some of the things I have learned because some of older character information and storylines had changed over the years I am not sure how well the crossover would go. I haven’t read The 99 and by the preview of the show it looks awesome, but in order to get an opinion of if this would be a good idea or that The 99 would be a good series to crossover with the Justice League I have to see the series first. So I would eventually come back to this subject at a later date.
